What to do in 4 days in Canada after Acadia?
I'm looking for suggestions on highlights in Canada to visit after leaving Acadia. We could head to Nova Scotia then New Brunswick and we'll be taking the interstate back to Illinois over the top of Maine thru Quebec, Montreal, (40 -401?) Toronto then Detroit with a couple of days to make it back. Would "must see places" be drives like the Cabot Trail, Fundy National Park? Would love to hear suggestions!

If you mean you are leaving from Acadia National Park in Maine, you really aren't going to have time to do much of anything except drive. I don't think you'd have time to go far out of your way to do the Cabot Trail, or anything else that would take you far off the main highway.
You could stop in any of the cities for a couple of hours quick peek, but that's all I think you'd have time for.

Yes, leaving Acadia National Park, Maine.
We would love to do Cabot's Trail because I read in every book that it's a highlight but on a map I see it's just too far for the time we have. I was thinking maybe we could stop at the Bay of Fundy and then there will be the major cities we'll pass thru. I guess at least it's a different way than we drove on the way out. The other alternative would be to go back about the same way but we'd have time to stay in the White Mountains or Adirondacks on the way back.

New Brunswick is closer for sure to Maine then NS is...you could continue to drive up the coast, cross over at Calais ME/St. Stephen NB, maybe have a stop in St. Andrews NB...you could go whale watching, stay at the famous Algonquin Hotel...you could go to Fundy National Park or the Hopewell Cape to see the changing of the tides...then you could turn around and go west on the Trans Canada towards Quebec...You could stop in Fredericton on your way back west which is the capital, and our downtown is beautiful. You could veer off the highway on your way up river and take the river valley route...the St. John River is the largest river in Atlantic Canada, and has some really beautiful spots to stop...I have always loved the river. This wouldn't take you too out of the way.

Hi - when you said you had 4 days in your original post, is that in addition to, or does that include your time for getting back to Illinois? If 4 days total - you probably want to focus on a couple of the bigger cities enroute. Quebec City is particularly unique - the "Old City" section (also called "Vieux Quebec") - is very worthwhile for a couple of days visit. Montreal and Toronto have lots of big-city attractions - great dining, museums, theatre, summer festivals, etc. So - logical stops allowing for a bit of variety and enough time for some exploring in each city - maybe 2 nights in Quebec City, then 2 nights in Toronto before heading home.
The Cabot Trail really is one of the top highlights of Eastern Canada and if you have 4 days after Acadia before you have to start heading home, it could be done.

4 separate days besides the trip home. Cabot's would be great but maybe a separate trip to there, Fundy and Prince Edward Island another time? What about going to Moosehead Lake or Baxter State Park which could be on the way and we'd love to see a moose in the wild! Then we'd also stop in Quebec City.

Baxter Park is a great stop if you are into hiking...but its not for the faint of heart (or foot!) esp. this year. We are just back from Maine and it is one of the wettest years on record, therefore mosquitos the size of elephants and swamp land on what used to be great hiking trails. If you are prepared and are hardy souls, then it is the perfect year because the tourists are staying away in droves and you will have the place to yourself and this weather has to break sometime!
Perhaps you woukld be better off doing some town/city visits: St. Andrews-byt-the-Sea, Halifax, Quebec City?

Yikes! Good to know although who knows what it will be like by the first week of August. We are driving in a 30' RV so learned we can't even drive into Baxter but had decided to go to Moosehead Lake instead. We'll have to think about this new info. Is anyone familiar with the 2 campgrounds that have room for us? Casey's at Spencer's Bay in Greenville and
Northern Pride Lodge in Kokadjo.
