Maine National Parks and scenic areas

Besides for Acadia national park, what other scenic areas are there in Maine to visit?
Which short (under 1.5 hour) and easy/easier hikes do you recommend?

Maine Coastal Gardens near Boothbay is a great hike for garden lovers. There's paths thru the woods, too. Just east of Brunswick is the Harpswells areas. You can download a copy of their conservation areas that are open to the public. I think it was Stover's Point Preserve we discovered several years ago and we're lucky to be driving a PU on the rutted road. You will note in the guide to be careful about the undercarriage of your car. http://www.harpswell.maine.gov/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={BF27F512-5F07-45E8-80F7-A0FD278CF0C2}
Some spots are right by the road and don't require hiking but you can enjoy sitting on an uncrowded beach. Don't miss the Giant's Stairs which is a pretty walk along the cliff. Not as long and dramatic as the Marginal Way but not as crowded either. When I first found a brochure for one of the preservation spots, I asked a waitress about it. She said there was nothing there! That was the whole point. People complain about Maine being crowded in the summer but we usually visit around 4th of July (Bath has a great parade). When we visited Stover's Point, there were a couple of fishermen and a family group enjoying the beach and us.

A boat trip out to Monhegan Island is also recommended. Plenty of hiking but bring your own lunch and choose a trail you can finish in the time you have there. (We're slow.) We also visited the little museum.

zxcybnm, yes, Harpswell/Brunswick area is mid-coast, probably a couple of hours south of Acadia. Google maps says 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on route.
