Hi,
I was planning on showing up in Vancouver and buying event tickets when I get there.
I actually did this in Torino with no problem at all.
But I called and checked the website and they are saying that limited tickets are available. They are basically saying that barely anything is available.
Is this true?
I know for alot of Olympics, they give tickets away to school kids to full up the stadiums.
Any thoughts?

There are a lot of tickets on their website on what is called fan to fan resale. This is an official vanoc reselling site so you are assured the tickets are valid. Those selling tickets there are people who got tickets in the original lottery and are now selling them - in some cases for ridiculous prices but certainly not in all cases.There are some reasonable prices there - you just have to keep checking. In order to see those tickets you must sign up for a ticket account and have a visa card to pay. There are also limited tickets to the lesser events available at the main ticket "booth" in Robson square. Hope that helps.

If you go to www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-tickets,and set up a ticket account for yourself, I am pretty sure that you will get tickets that you want via the fan to fan sales. I looked on it yesterday and was amazed at the number of tickets availible. They are crazy prices now, but closer to the games I am sure the prices will come down as people are stuck with tickets they do not want. The local organizing committee will charge you I think 20% service fee to buy here, but at least you know the tickets are legit!!! Visa is the only way you can pay, so clear your account before you start, and good luck for your Olympic moment!!!!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is in Vancouver and buying event tickets while you are there.
I am going to go to Robson Sq. to see what they have available and may show up at the box office at Whistler or Cypress to see if anything is available.

Haven't seen any reports yet of people buying tickets onsite at the box office, but a friend here in Seattle bought tickets yesterday on the fan to fan site for speed skating tomorrow (Sunday), at close to face value (they had been much higher).

You can't get to Whistler without a ticket as no private vehicles are allowed on the highway right now. You need a ticket to get the bus up to Whistler.

Just saw on CTV covering the Olympics here in Canada that tickets are available at the VANOC office for some events in Vancouver and in Whistler if anyone is close enough to purchase. Unfortunately I am 5 hrs away by air

We managed to pick up an extra event through the Whistler box office. They've had very limited offerings, though--our tickets were the unsold seats in the handicapped section (they set up folding chairs for us). They were great seats but there were only 100 or so of them. We just happened to be at the ticket booth at the right time. There are tons of tickets on the Vancouver and Whistler Craig's Lists. There were so many postponements for the alpine skiing events that a lot of people had to sell, so I would feel a little more confident than usual buying a rescheduled event via Craig's List.
