Have any fodorites bought Bolshoi tickets using bolshoi.com Have you experienced any problems. I would like tickets for a ballet, I am not sure if I should buy them online or wait to buy the tickets in Russia. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have used bolshoi.com a number of times to obtain tickets, no problems. Ticket office is in a building on your left as you face the theatre.

I believe the website you are referring to is www.bolshoi.ru It is a nice looking site but a little awkward to navigate. Once you register and find the program you want you can pick your seat location from a diagram. I purchased two tickets for the Nutcracker last New Year's Eve and had no problem at all. If you are in the boxes, select front row seats only. At the ticket office, where you must pick up your tickets before the show, you will probably find a few people desperately trying to get tickets. You will receive your tickets at once. Good idea to take your printout/receipt from the website and you must take the credit card you used online. We had a great time.

You should not have any problems to buy tickets @ bolshoi.com. I have done this. However, I have also purchased tickets in Moscow at the theatr for less. If you have friends or contacts in Moscow usually they can go to the ticket office and purschase the same tickets for less that what you will pay on line. Also, on any given night you can purchase the tickets from the ticket scalpers who will be standing outside of the big Theatr.
Where ever you are able to get tickets. You should do it. It is always a great performance and experience.
