Niagara Falls Trip Advice Needed- 2 days + 3 generation of women

I will be traveling by car from Northern NJ to Niagara Falls (we are staying at the Raddison on the Canada side) with my mother and grandmother. Any advice for traveling to Niagara Falls with a peppy but wobbly 86 year old? Are the attractions "senior friendly"? I am concerned about all of the water and possible slippery surfaces.

Thanks for any advice!

All three of you will love Niagara on the Lake which is a short drive down the river from Niagara Falls, Plan to spend an afternoon or morning there. You can walk down the main street where there are lovely shops and restaurants-much much much nicer than what you will find in Niagara Falls and a little more walking friendly. The drive to get there is lovely too and there are wineries along the way which often offer tastings.

If you are renting a car, you should get an audio CD driving tour of the area. You drive from Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake while listening to the directions and the guide tells you all about the different sites. You can get out and walk around each one or just view them from the car (not much walking). You see and learn without a lot of crowds. You can do a google search for "self-guided audio tours niagara" to find one.

You should be fine. The amusements on Clifton Hill are rather close together. The Skylon Tower and daredevil museum a bit off the path. Take the people mover near the bottom of Clifton hill (ticket booth about 1 block up hill) It drops you off at each attractions front door so to speak. Worried about slippery? go to K-mart and buy water shoes to slip on at attractions. They give a great grip and they are pretty cheap. I want to say $5.00 or so. They are kind of like rubber moccasins. I saw lots of seniors there but you know Grams limits and so do the attractions management realize them. The 3 best were the Butterflies the Maid of the mist and Journey behind the falls. JBtheF was a 1 1/2 hour wait to the ticket time stamp. So we went up the incline railway to the Minolta tower to look around and take pics. That worked out good.

How was your trip with mother and grandmother? My sister and I will be taking my 83 year old mother in September, and are planning on flying in to Buffalo and staying on the Canadian side. (Embassy, Raddison or Marriott hotel; any suggestions) Any additional advice?

Can either AHA92101 or PKPBB respond with your trip details? I am planning a trip in September 2007 with my 80-year-old mother and I am interested in the same type of things that you mentioned. Can you please let me know how things went, advise, etc.? It is much appreciated.

Dawn

I, too would be interested in your replies and how you liked it. We may be going with my 81 and 83 year old parents.

Also, how long was your drive from New Jersey? THANKS!
