Newfoundland in Oct.
Have 2 weeks in early October and was thinking of a trip to Newfoundland with stops in Nova Scotia and PEI which we've been to before. What will it be like in October?

Dear Sue, The weather in Newfoundland will not be all that bad, as well as the weather in nova scotia If you come to Cape breton island you will be in for one amazing change of color the cabot trail during that time will be amazing it would be well worth the trip.. The weather will be a little on the cool side but a sweater will take care of that. enjoy your stay and have fun

Sue, if you go to the government of Canada web site, you can find out the true weather info for many, many parts of Newfoundland, month by month.
And you can interpolate from September info and November info how the weather changes over the month of October.
I did this research for Cornerbrook and St. John's before I sent you my second message.
I don't make this sutff up. Depending on where you come from, maybe rainy and cold is fine weather, but I doubt it. Go to Newfoundland some summer, when the weather is nice and the sun is shining. I've been there in April when it was so warm kids were wearing shorts, and I've been there in September when it was OK, and in November when it was awful, and in June when it was nice most of the time, and in a few other months, too.
None of which is to say Nova Scotia might not be nice enough, if you don't care about beaches.

I have been in Nfld. during all four seasons and do not advise an October trip.
If you like wildlife [whales, huge seabird colonies etc] they are gone. All of the wonderful Summer music festivals are over and a number of the tourist attractions are closed or on reduced hours.
As BAK indicated the weather can be drizzly, damp and nasty.
Nfld has its charms in any season but for my money I suggest mid- June through mid- August for the best experience.
cheers
Jerry
