help me choose Victoria hotel

I am sure I have seen every hotel/inn/B&B website for Victoria. I have been searching for a small, quaint inn which allows dogs. Of course the Abigail looks gorgeous, but $359 for the dog friendly room is over our budget. My husband isn't fond of the Victorian frou-frou so it looks like our best choices so far are:
Inn at Laurel Point (dog rooms are only on the ground floor, no view--$254)
Delta Victoria Ocean Point (premier $254)
Grand Pacific (Harbor view $242)
The standard room at the Victoria Ocean Pointe is booked for Sept, 2010 (a conference)
If price and location are about the same, does one property stand out more than the others?

We certaily are open to other options but nothing too basic or ordinary.

It's easiest for us if we can easily walk our dog .

I believe it was the Grand Pacific we stayed at. I just remember LOVING the harbor view, so maybe it was another hotel with harbor view, but that view is great! We would set outside watching the seaplanes land and all the activity right in front of us. The little harbor ferries do a dance on the water a couple times a day which we found entertaining.

I used to love the laurel Point, but the last couple of times I was there was not too impressed. The carpets were dirty and lighting bad, which made one wonder what else was dirty>
The Grand Pacific and Delta are both great. The Delta is facing the inner harbour onthe other side. We had a room that looked right at the parliments buildings, all lit up at night. Great walk around the harbour from there.
i have not stayed at the grande pacific but know others that do and love it. Again, good walking areas

That rate is really high at Abigails. We loved our stay there though, and the location with the proximity to the inner harbour as well as Beacon Hill Park, which would be a bonus with a dog. Have you called to see if the rate is lower, by chance? I only mention this because the hotel is so wonderful that if you can manage to get it within your budget I think you would love it.
