Spirit of the Outback Train
I would be interested to know if anyone has ever travelled on this train from Brisbane to Longreach? We are booked on it in August and think it should be quite an experience!

Prue,
this is SO funny!!! I'm going to Oz in Sept./ Oct. and I really really wanted to take this train trip! But reviewing my itinerary and other things I need to do, I don't think I can fit it in!
My rep from Tourism Queensland will be on the train on Sept.22; her second time/
Now my question to you is: what are you doing AFTER you get into Longreach??

Hi Melodie,
Once we reach Longreach we are joining an APT Tour for 8 days and then will be in Cairns for a further 6 days.
I know - the dreaded bus tour - but it is our preferred means of travel.
The tour takes us to Winton, Mt. Isa, Karumba, Georgetown and then Cairns.
We are looking forward to it very much but I would really love to know more about the train trip - it reads as though it will be fun - and something different.

I am bringing this post to the top since we leave next week and I would love to hear from anyone that has any experience with the train - particularly strength of the air-conditioning - clothing wise!
