Skagway excursions

I think I posted this question on the wrong forum. My husband and I are taking the inside passage to Alaska. We can't decide which to do? The train, rafting, or horseback riding on a ranch. We really want to see the wildlife. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We did the train, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Saw mountain goats, eagles, etc., on the way.

Take the train, you can raft and/or horseback ride almost any place , but there is only one place to take this lovely train ride.

I agree with sweet_polly

We did the train also - it was great. But we wished we had know that there was an option to ride the train up, then bicycle back down. We would have down that instead.

I agree, take the train. We took the train up then a bus tour into the Yukon. A very personalzed tour with Chilkoot Charters with a wonderful guide. There is narration on the train...very interesting.

For wildlife you need tours, don't expect wildlife viewing from the train. The White Pass is loaded with history, sit on the left side of the train leaving Skagway.

Another option is to rent a car in Skagway and drive to Emerald Lake. We did the train and then rented a car. Liked the drive much better. We could stop whenever we wanted to take pictures.

Another vote for the train...then walk around town and have a beer at Mo's bar. Nice local joint and you will most likely be the only tourist there.
