Sofitel or Intercontinental Hotels in Moorea and Bora Bora

I am close to booking a trip to French Polynesia....this is an expensive destination any way you slice it!

My choices of hotels are Sofitel Ia Ora in Moorea and Sofitel Marara staying on the private island OR
the Intercontinental Moorea and Intercontinental Bora Bora Le Moana.

From the websites, I don't see any discernable differences? Any advice? In Bora Bora, I'll be getting an OTW bungalow - any suggestions on which one I should get as far as the view or location?

Thank you!

Allison

I know I am a kook, but I am replying to my own post with an epilogue of what I have decided to do....I'm booking the Sofitel Ia Ora in Moorea and the Intercontinental in Bora Bora because those got the best combination of reviews on Trip Advisor of all the combination Sofitel and Intercontinental lodging options.

You're not a kook Allison. Your follow-up could well help the next person with the same dilemma. Perhaps you could post again on your return to let us know how it went?

Allison,

Let me prefact this by saying that I'm NOT advertising here, and I've never claimed to be a Tahiti Specialist (Australia and New Zealand, yes), BUT, I'm do book trips for clients travelling to these places (I'm just not designated a Specialsit in that area), and I'm currently working with a client on his trip to Bora Bora. The wholesaler that I work with has several specials going with various hotels, some are in combination with other hotels (like if they're the same chain, but on different islands), so it becomes quite a challenge to cost/price match to figure out who's got the best deal at the resorts!

Today, I've just found, through these exclusive specials my wholesaler has, that he can get a free night at BOTH resorts he wants, PLUS, if he takes the Meridien vs. the Sofitel in Papeete that he wanted, I can get him a better room, (Lagoon vs. Garden), have his dinner included AND save him $155.

It really IS complicated - even for an agent and you doing it "piecemeal", going to different websites, are probably not going to be as informed. I'd suggest that you find a Tahiti Specialist in your area just by doing a Google search and see how they can help you.

Hope this is helpful!

Regards,

Melodie
