Malolo Resort??

My husband and I stayed at Malolo for a week a year back. We really loved it there. The rooms are large and clean and the food is excellent. When we were there they had a crazy Swiss-Italian chef who was a lot of fun. They have a great band that plays at lunch and dinner and a really nice swimming pool. The island has a fresh water spring, so they are able to have the luxury of a large pool - most resorts have tiny (dirty or heavily chlorinated) pools. The staff is excellent - all the way up to the management. The snorkeling on the beach is ok, but you can take a short boat trip in the morning to Sunflower Reef. There's some very nice snorkeling there. Malolo also has wonderful hammocks hanging all along the beach. It was very relaxing

Outriggers was a beautiful resort although the drawbacks were that it was so far from everything, most excursions to outer island required an one hour drive on a bus. Also the beach and snorkeling wasn't good at the hotel. Pools were great though and the people nice, if you want to just relax then it would be fine.

I have a question for Stephanie, first thanks for responding to my questions. hope you don't mind some more. How was the snorkeling at the resort, did you encounter any sea lice? Did you do any excurson, was it expensive to do jet skis? Any other islands? Should we request a cerain bre (were in a delux beach) Thank you, I'm so excited since I heard more on the resort.

Hi Trudi - The snorkeling in front of the resort is ok. I saw a really cool lion fish, but not as many colorful corals as the reefs a little further out. Sunflower reef is a short boat ride away, though. We definitely didn't have any problems with sea lice and Malolo is really good about Mosquito control. I didn't rent jet skis, so I'm not sure on the price, but we did use the kayaks for a nice morning paddle (the kayaks are free). We stayed in a delux bure and were very pleased. I think the further away from the main resort you stay, the better. It's a little more secluded and quite, but the beach gets a little rockier. Did you try their website http://www.maloloisland.com/<BR>At least it'll give you a visual idea of things... Malolo is a really fun and friendly resort. It'd be really tough to not enjoy it! I must admit, I'm really jealous and want to go back tomorrow!! Have a wonderful time.
