Le Taha'a

Can anyone give a review of Le Taha'a? How much can I expect to spend per person per day on food? What is there to do here? I booked my honeymoon months ago and the travel agency screwed up multilpe things. We were supposed to be 3 nts OWB @ Bora Bora Lagoon Resort. They booked us 2 nts at Bora Bora Pearl. Then they called and said BB Pearl is overbooked and they can 'upgrade' us for no charge to Le Taha'a. What do you think? It looks expensive, I am worried we won't be able to afford to eat there. Not to mention, I really wanted to go to Bora Bora and stay at BB Lagoon, as I had booked and as I signed the invoice stating BB Lagoon. Any advice or insight on Le Taha'a?

Have not been there, but Le Taha'a is generally considered to be perhaps the "hottest" property in French Polynesia right now. The Pearl Resorts (of which Le Taha'a is the newest) are pretty nice places. We stayed at the Bora Bora Pearl in 2000 and loved it.

The fact that there will not be much in the way of scheduled activities is the only real drawback there (aside from the price of course). You will need to budget at least $100 USD/person/day at any of the main resorts anywhere in French Polynesia. Especially at Le Taha'a I would consider the meal plan as it probably will save you money.

Do you think I would be missing out if I skipped Bora Bora and went to Le Taha'a? I am not sure I will ever get back to FP, at least not any time soon. I had my heart set on Bora Bora.

While I do think that you will feel sad to have missed Bora Bora, I can't see how you will be anything but blown away by Le Taha'a. Personally, with the upgrade being free, I would jump at it.

Bora Bora was jaw-droppingly beautiful and I suspect Taha'a will be as well - and will probably be much more secluded feeling. More and more folks are starting to feel that Bora Bora is beginning to be a bit "overbuilt".

Whichever you choose, prepare to be amazed!

Ken

PS - I checked the meal plan prices on the Le Taha'a website and full board is just over $130/person/day. Half board (breakfast/dinner) is just over $100 USD/person/day.
