Guam - Westin vs. Hilton?

We are considering going to Guam for our anniversary (in September) and have found two
resorts which look appealing. Westin, from the web site looks gorgeous but the rooms are a
little pricey at $258 per night. Hilton on the other hand which is on Tumon Bay like the
Westin is running some great deals for rooms as little as $158 per night for an oceanview
room. However, the Hilton web site doesn't say much for the looks of the hotel. It looks kind
of old. Can you recommend which one we should stay at for a relaxing anniversary with
pretty scenery? Thanks!

The Westin is one of the newest, if not the newest hotel on the beach. They have the nicest Sunday brunch around and is nice hotel. The rooms OK; the tub is a nice jacuzzi. I haven't stayed at the Hilton, but have never heard anything bad about it. I believe if the price difference was substantial, I'd go with the Hilton. I believe you'd be happy with any major hotel on Tumon bay. I'd make sure there isn't any major renovations going on at the Hilton first (that could be why there are deals being offered). Remember to rent a car. Do not take taxis! They are way, way expensive. Do yourself a favor and visit other islands while you're there, like Yap or Palau.

Happy Anniversary. I live on Guam and spend a lot of time in the downtown area. I have to say that I prefer the Hilton, mainly because of the area that it is in. It is not right next to all of the other hotels on the strip and feels a bit more relaxing. There is also a wonderful bar called the Tree Bar. The food isn't wonderful, but the atmosphere is nice. They also have a good buffet. I have eaten at the Westin once and it was also good. I would say that for the money, the Hilton is the way to go.

Latest update - best place in town is the Outrigger Guam - best location, views, etc. They also have a couple of their "Ohana" hotels there and they are a good deal for off beach lodging.
