Staying in Nadi, Fiji
Will be my first trip to Fiji. Will be staying at the Shereton for a week. using points so cost is not a factor. The problem is all I read is go to the outer islands. I know I can take daytrips but will I regret staying in nadi for eight days.
Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

mike-I would not stay in Nadi for 8 days. If you want beaches, snorkelling, all the stuff you see on the adverts for Fiji then you must get up to the Yasawa Islands. Nadi is a dull little town full of people trying to sell you stuff. It reminds me of any Indian village I've seen. If you have paid your money and cannot change your arrangements then you might hire a car and drive down to Suva or up to Raki-Raki. You can drive up to the highlands. Do a day trip out to Castaway Island. Buy a guidebook and check out your options.

Have a look at www.bulafiji.com which is the Fiji tourist site and prvides info and links to a lot of the resorts. I've also had some good feedback on www.botaira.com, but haven't been there myself.

Hi Mike-check out www.fijibudget.com and www.octopusresort.com, on Waya island-the two best beaches in the Yasawa islands are Oarsmans Bay on Nacula Island in the Yasawas and Kuata Island's beach in the sthn Yasawas. All these islands have budget resorts and they can be booked on line or through one of Fiji's best travel agents, Margaret Travel, in Nadi Airport. Check out their website www.fijiislandstravel.com-Margaret & Tom are Fijian people and are the best & kindest folk around. You will love the Yasawas and Margaret can book a seaplane up there for you or the Yasawa Flyer boat or anything your heart desires. She does not charge more than if you booked direct. Have used her lots & lots & never been ripped off! Have a great holiday.
