Club Med Bora Bora???
I am planning a vacation to the South Pacific in January 2005. I have narrowed my choice to Bora Bora or Moorea. Anyone have any opinions on Club Med Bora Bora??? I'm thinking that all-inclusive may be the way to go for me......I am fairly sure that Club Med won't be as plush as some other resorts in BB, which is okay, but I also don't want to stay at a dump---any input would be MUCH appreciated!!!!!!

We stayed at Club Med Bora Bora in 1998 - I would definitely recommend you stay somewhere else. It is not plush at all - it wasn't a dump either. I found the staff to be rude and unfriendly (ok, I know this was a few years ago and staff change etc) but they were more interested in holidaying themselves. You had to go to another beach to actually enjoy a swim (the lagoon there isn't what you see in the postcards) It was a short boat trip to an island over the way which was beautiful, but nothing there.
If I were you, I'd look at other resorts that offer say breakfast and dinner as part of the price, than stay with Club Med. I regret my stay at Bora Bora because of my experience at Club Med.

Hi,
an all inclusive resort IS all it's cracked up to be .... IF it's the RIGHT all inclusive...aye, there's the rub!
And Jen's absolutely correct, Club Med Bora Bora isn't. Here's the thing about Club Med - there are good ones and not-so-good. There's no "standard" as in sort of a Hilton is a Hilton is a Hilton... they really vary. I've learned this visiting and doing site inspections at various Club Meds - it becomes pretty obvious they're not all the same, so you can't really go with the "brand name" and expect the same type of experience at each one.
Hope this is helpful!

We stayed there 7 days because of the price. For the same money we could have stayed somewhere nicer for 2 days, and I wish we had. I have stayed at the Club Med in Cancun which I thought was nice, but this was nothing like that. In short, the food was bad, the staff were rude, and the facilities were barely passable.
