Ruth, you asked this same question yesterday, and we still can't help you because you don't post where you are going.

(By the way, if you are unable to find your previous post, just click on your name and a list of your most recent posts will appear.)

Ruth if you are talking about China, you need to go to the consulate on 12th Avenue. According to their (slow loading) site, you should go no more than two months before your departure because the validity is only three months.

The information is here; I could not get the site to display the application so will just go and pick one up:

I don't think RuthLee "gets" the internet forum thing....multiple responses to her 15 posts and not a single thank you....

Single entry visas are valid for three months from date of issue, according to the info on their website. Perhaps the website does not have the current information.

ekscrunchy,

Love your screename!

The rules were changed late last year

I just checked my visa again and it's valid from January 15 thru July 15, 2007

I had to go thru a visa facilitator as we have no Chinese embassy in Hawaii

http://www.mychinavisa.com/index.html

This is a very reliable service. They kept me informed by email as soon as they received my passport and emailed when they shipped it. Took 6 days from when I sent it out till I got it back.

See passport validity page for info regarding the length of validity.

Aloha!

You do not need a visa for Hong Kong, just one for China. Note that if you pass back and forth through Hong Kong and China you would need a double entry visa.
