Kuranosuke,
Have not heard of this but there might possibly be places around Pantip or even MBK that can do this. The problem is that are you willing to trust you old vinyls in the hands of these shops while they are digitizing it? Most of these "kids" have probably never used vinyl record before!
What type of music or who are the artists that you're trying to get cds for? Perhaps I can help you find them in mp3 format.

ken, i think if you contacted a recording studio type place they might be able to help you....but as pook says would you give your precious records to these kids? think of the needles they would use on them----old coat hangers...
if anyplace you might find it at the weekend market.....just kidding.

Forget the kids, what about the airlines? You really want your precious vinyl bouncing around in a plane's belly for 24 hours, getting frozen, then heated to 100 F?
Why don't you just plug in the headphone output from your stereo into the mic. input of your computer and do it yourself?

thanks guys for the suggestions.
hanuman, i've got the vinyls is storage, so i would have to go look at them again, but one album comes to mind. its buddy fo and the invitations. they are a local group that sings popular hawaiian songs vocalizing in the same style as the four freshmen.
bob, coat hangers for needles, good one. lol.
mike, good idea, but i would still need to get a turntable, and transfer in real time. i do know that best buy sells turntables that will record your lps to cd, but i'm not sure of the quality during the transfer. did not consider the adverse effect of air travel on the lps. maybe i'll bring a few expendable ones to test it out.
guess i'll just have to check it out while i'm in bangkok next time.

I've tried searching P2Ps and Torrents and could not find any of Buddy Fo's music(did find some virus instead!). From his web site - http://www.buddyfo.com/ if you order a cd then it can be easily converted.

Ken, I'm sure you could have it professionally done in Hawaii. There are small companies that do this, but you could probably find a music-loving individual who would do this for a relatively low cost. It's not rocket science, you just need the right equipment. There is even software to remove the "pops" and lengthen and clean up the pauses between songs. Cheryl did it for some of her old, no longer available albums and some of mine.

hanuman, thanks for the website. i did not see the album that i wanted, but i emailed buddy to ask about a possible release on cd.
kathie, i know that there are studios that do the conversion, but they are expensive, so, i may end up being the music-loving individual who will do these conversions for a low cost. who knows, perhaps a side-business.

The price is right. Looks like the subject to search on is "USB turntables" and wouldn't you know it but there is this:
