Sheraton in Krabi

Can anyone comment about this hotel. We're planning to stay here because we have points to use. The only thing I've learned is that it's pretty secluded (which is not bad) and it looks pretty nice from the internet.

Hi

I haven't stayed there but we visited for drinks whilst exploring the area. It is lovely hotel in a peaceful location but as you mention it is also very secluded

I'd be curious as well, as we're planning a trip for late November and a looking for something less expensive than Rayavadee, but still a first class hotel. Any other suggestions?

We stayed at the Krabi Sheraton last year, when it just opened. The lobby area is lovely, the rooms are well done and has all the ameneties you would expect (though they are housed in a concrete structure with long hallways). The service was good and the food decent. Even the location felt ok, though a bit far out. The thing that was not so nice was that you did not feel like you were right on the beach. The rooms overlooked almost swamplike areas rather than views of the sea. Even while we were at the pool, which is almost on the beach but set back from it, you don't get that in the infinity pool looking out at the sea feel. So, overall, though the hotel is actually on the beach, you really don't feel like it. And Krabi has such spectacular views that it was a real dissapointement to see that Sheraton had built in a place that could not take advantage of any of it. But if you don't mind that part of the experience, it definetely has all the ameneties of a five star which seems to be lacking in other Krabi hotels. But if you are comparing to Rayavadee (which I have stayed in previously).... none of the beauty of the location or views.

Forgot to mention the 1 year old hotel, Tubkaak Resort in Krabi. Looks great on the website (www.tubkaak.com) and have read good reviews. We are trying it out in Oct. (16th..) if you want can give you a review when we get back. Booking through www.asia-discovery.com seemed to yield the best rates.
