Seoul, Korea Accommodation / Restaurants

Suggestions for "central" accommodation location near to the things to do and potentially some green space. Mid range budget - just coming back from 40 days in Australia/New Zealand!
Also any restaurant recommendations?
(Couple age 60/55)

The area around Gwanghwamun is pretty central to things. There are also a bunch of dining options in the area. Not sure what you are looking for in restaurants but I could probably offer a suggestion or two. Unfortunately I am not a fan of Korean food so I would probably steer you toward Indian, Mexican or just about anything else. I can consult with a few people for a better variety or "good" K-food.

Thanks that would be wonderful - we will eat pretty well anything - except my husband is not so good with spices (ie Indian and Mexican)... A good Korean meal would be nice to at least try while we are there...

We stayed at the Ramada Inn and Suites near City Hall.
The airport limo goes straight there.

If your husband cannot handle spices very well, I recommend this restaurant. The one we ordered is not spicy at all.

Otherwise, Insadong (the "traditional" Korean culture street) is very close to the Gwanghwamun/City Hall/Myungdong area and you have many options for Korean restaurants there, including the ones where they bring you around 30 dishes - the hanjungshik - course-style traditional food.

Warm greetings Lester, from on the road. Perhaps way too tardy with the following "recco", but will go ahead with the highest praise of a Seoul business travel (and, holiday) delight, Arirang, as noted on my profile page. And, an ongoing (shameless) promotion for some special dining spots and friends at my sole Seoul business travel hotel (to date), the Park Hyatt.

Wherever you dine, enjoy,

The food floor of a big department store or a major subway station (e.g. COEX) would have a bunch of small eateries. It's better to sample there, so you could try different things from different vendors.
