New Dehli
I may be arriving at New Dehli airport alone. Have done this once before and had to walk the "gang plank" and be accosted! Did not bother me too much because I had a prearranged driver. This time, I will need a taxi. Is there an area inside the airport where I can get prepaid taxis?

ilanit is correct - there are pre paid Taxi counters inside - which can be used. However these are local taxis (non acc) - and the drivers are quite rogues. So please be careful - specially if you are travelling at odd hours.
There are other DLY taxis and radio Taxis available in pre paid counters these days - which are relatively expensive but more reliable.
You can also ask the hotel where you are staying to send you one of their taxis with their driver to receive you at the airport.

What does DLY stand for?
I had not thought about a hotel service..but I will probably be staying at an airport hotel and flying onto Kathmandu the next day.

Yes- this is a great forum - and I love it.
DLY - bascilly is the initial on the number plate which signifies that the vehicle is for commercial use and not a private one. So all taxis shall have DLY number plates followed by their registration numbers.
DLY taxis are always best to use since even tourists are covered in terms of insurance etc while travelling in them.
If you are staying at an airport hotel - than they shall surely have a pick / up drop service. I Suggest you take up their arrival transfer and for the drop - you can use their shuttle service (a kind of shuttle bus).
What hotel are you at ?? I can advise if you they have some kind of taxi service or not..
In Delhi the airport hotels are Orchid, Radisson - in the deluxe segment. Other hotels are Central Plaza, Ashok Country resort and a lot of small guest house type dotting the road leading to the airport.
