Need help with Koh Samui accomadations
Looking for recommendations for a resort/villa for 5 adults in Koh Samui for 4-5 nights in Sept. 09. It will be myself, husband, daughter & her husband (29yo) & son (24yo).
Something with 2 bedrooms maybe . . . in the US$300++/night range for 5 of us.
The "kids" would probably like to sample the nightlife and Mom & Dad would like a more quiet location, so somewhere that would accomadate everyones wants would be ideal.

I remember that Bob, they really enjoyed it, can't find that looking back but here's the website, http://www.edenrok.com/
Sandalwood does a 3 dedroom with jacuzzi, sleeps 6, $ 215 for 2 persons, $23 each additional, so that would be about $ 285. They have kitcehnette and living area but they also include breakfast in that, so quite good value

The thing with villas is they tend to be hillside and not near the beach, so different than staying at a resort 'on the beach'. So quite different style so you have to appeciate you get plenty of room altogether but it might not be convenient location and not at the beach.
You need to compare that with say getting 2 double rooms and a single rooms for your son that is 'on the beach' and close enough to get to/from nightlife, restaurants etc.

I stayed at Rice House @ Eden Rock, the villa was amazing!
pix link below. There are 3 or 4 houses in total, Eden being the largest and the house of the owner when he is around, rice and pinapple both have 2 beds and infinity pools, good location but need a car or taxi services to the any of the main beach areas.

Eden Rock and Sandalwood both look amazing but family would prefer to be "on the beach" and closer to nightlife/restaurants. So we will have to start to rethink this now, any suggestions on hotels and what beach area would be best?
Another question I've been searching R24.org and notice alot of places show after Sept. 1 is low season and many others show it is still high season. So what season is it? Just curious.

Some call it shoulder season. Statistically, it starts to get really wet in October, but since most of the tourists take off by the end of August, some hotels lower their rates then to attract more business.
I recently stayed at Muang Kulaypan, at the very north end of Chaweng. If you want nightlife / restaurants, then Chaweng is the place to be. The Muang Kulaypan was close enough to walk to the main area, but far enough away to be relatively quiet.

Samui is not like most places in Thailand. The 'summer' months of June to August are relatively dry, and the wettest months are October to December - it's almost the complete opposite of the other major destinations. Because of this, Samui hotels charge their high season rates from February or March through to September or October, and some of them have extra high 'peak season' rates in August.
