Movie-Bangkok Dangerous
A total waste of my $11.50. I just happened to be at Century City Shopping Center (LA) today and noticed that it was playing. So, I thought...what the heck...it starts in an hour and I'll be finished shopping by then. So, I bought a ticket and went. Bad decision to say the least. Happy Travels!

Guenmai,
Did you, by any chance, ever see the 1999 or 2000 version (original?) in Thai? My bf is fluent in Thai, so we rented it a few years ago when we saw it at a Blockbuster store. I had to read the subtitles, but I still thought it was pretty good.

What showing were you at, Guen? Same exact thing happened to us. At Century City, thought 'why not?' and caught the 1:55 show.
Always nice to see Bangkok. Never nice to see Nick Cage. My favorite was when he kept saying 'Kong...yoo tee nai?' over and over in that horrific accent. He slipped a couple times and actually said 'woo tee nai.' I couldn't help but giggle a bit.
Agreed--it was pretty dreadful.

jlaughs...No I never saw the original.
Filmwil..I went to the show that started right before 5PM...I think it was 4:50PM. I hadn't heard any reviews on the film or anything, so I just took a chance and bought the ticket. I figured that if I hadn't seen it then, then I probably wouldn't have seen it since I would have been too busy later. Happy Travels!

We saw it and now I would like that hour and a half of my life back!
Being an interpreter it was funny watching NC try to sign. So in this movie he butchered both Thai and sign language!
Guen, I am happy that here in the midwest movies are only $10 so we didnt waste as much as you did!

Yes, it was definitely shot in Bangkok. But you'll only really see the usual suspects: Grand Palace, MBK, Patpong, Floating Market, etc.
The visuals were nice for a few minutes...until Nick Cage started speaking. It was all downhill from there.

Be glad that you only wasted $11.50.
I was in Tokyo last month, and had some time to kill so went to one of the premium movie theaters. Unfortunately, the only showtime available was for Indiana Jones. So, for $35 (which included 1 cocktail)....I enjoyed my vodka and tonic, and promptly fell asleep 15 minutes into the very bad film....

Travelduo...Films are less than $11.50 here, too. It was a high price because it was playing in a theater at the Century City Shopping Center in L.A. When the ticket seller said, $11.50, I said to her that I had only asked for one ticket. She just laughed. I was serious. I thought she'd misheard me.
At many of the theaters in Pasadena, there are different prices for different times of the day...unless things have changed... and I would always go around 3PM, M-F, when it was the cheapest. So, I had no idea of this $11.50 stuff. Movies are also cheaper, at the Westfield Mall in Arcadia. Happy Travels!
