How to purchase tickets on Lao Air

I want to fly Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang direct in January on Laos Airline. I am having difficulty using their website to buy the ticket or to get information. Has anyone used it? If not, can you suggest a travel agent?

Thank you.

I'd use a travel agent. Thereis is an agency in France that has a webpage that makes it look like you are purchasing from Lao Air, but you are giving the money to the French Travel agency - and Lao Air won't honor those reservations!

I use Eddie at the American Express office in Bangkok: [email protected]

On their real website www.laoairlines.com there is a list of travel agents that sell their tickets.

On the website Kathie is referring to http://www.laos-airlines.com/ it appears that you can book online. BUT, as Kathie said, the airline does not honor these tickets. I wrote to the real Laos Airlines a while back asking about loas-airlines.com website and excursion pass and got the response that the website is not theirs, and they do not accept tickets issued from them.

beaker - are you bearinthefield on thorn tree? The same question has been posted there, so I'm just curious if you are the same person, or it's a strange coincidence that the same question has been posed on two forums at the same time by two different people...I answered on two forums with two different names but same person, so I just thought, maybe...

beaker - On airgorilla.com you can fly straight from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang on Lao Airlines for $150 (with taxes included). I've never had a problem using this site to buy tickets.

Oh, and I should add that I put in a one-way flight during mid-January (not knowing your exact date).

Kim...yes, c'est moi! I use different names for different audiences. It is about the only intrigue in my life. Kinder, gentler crowd hereabouts. I appreciate your two responses.

Pebbles..thanks also for the followup effort.

Yes, I think it is usually kinder and gentler here.

pebbles13 - That rate of $150 oneway CM to LP seems way too high. The fare on Lao airways site is $85 including taxes. Better to try one of the agents that they show on their site or wait until you get to Thailand.
