Air Fares In Asia
Some of you have mentioned that you have dealt with someone from AM EX for airline tickets in Asia. Lost my note. Who was this person and how do I contact him?
Am checking prices Hanoi to Hue; Hue to HCMC. Can he also help with flights on Bangkok Airlies?

www.vietnamstay.com is often recommended for flights within VN. Eddie, from the AmEx agency is Bangkok gets tickets for many of us. [email protected] I use him for tickets out of Bangkok to other parts of SE Asia. He emails me electronic tickets and paper tickets he has delivered to my hotel in Bangkok.

you don't need a US travel agent for those. most people buy them at a Vietnam Airlines office IN Vietnam. You can also buy tickets on VA on vayama.com for those routes, or even cheaper on Pacific Airlines discount airline website.

Thanks everyone. I now have most of my airline tix. Cathay Pacific had no seats on the code share Vietnam Air flight we wanted. (Cathay Pacific is a partner with British Air.) Vietnamstay could not help with an international flights. I booked the same flight at Travel.asia.com for
about $15 per ticket more the Cathay Pacific. I will use Vietnamstay or Pacific Air on other Vietnam domestic tix. I used Bangkok Air Discovery Pass to book three other international flights. Using the Discovery Pass saved a total of $200. You can only purchase the Discovery Pass and tickets in the US by contacting one of their US offices. Each leg is $90 plus tax. They charge 5% if you put it on a credit card and charge $15 to Fed Ex the tix.

You don't need to pay FedEx fees for BA tickets. They send them by email if you want, e-tickets. Just got mine that way 2 weeks ago. You can also send in a money order instead of paying by credit card to avoid 5% fee. $90 for int'l flight comes out to $115 with taxes. Usually cheaper than buying separately.
I have had a very hard time getting Vietnamstay to respond regarding airline tickets. They responded quickly regarding visas, but never replied to 3 of my emails regarding airline tickets.
I agree that Eddie from AmEx in Bangkok is a good way to go too, Kathie. I found that prices are the same booking via vayama.com for international flights in Asia. So it's an option as well. Haven't compared his prices for inter-Vietnam prices, but Pacific Airlines is cheap and easily purchased online. Vayama.com is easy too for Vietnam Airlines flights.
