Furama hotel in Singapore?
Going to Singapore in May - we are thinking about the Furama City Centre Hotel. Has anybody stayed there and if so what do you think about it. How far is it from the MRT and is it an easy walk to it (??under shelter from heat or rain). Is it a good location to access other parts of city. Any other hotels can also be recommended?

We stayed at the Intercontinental and found it very nice.
I would highly recommend the hop on-hop off bus for a great way to see the city sights. The food is diverse and fantastic in Singapore. We enjoyed the Alkaff Mansion. It is a large mansion on top of a hill with fabulous views. The rijsttafel food was good but the setting and traditional service was fun. I would recommend it for a Singaporean experience and even a little romantic. Try to get there as the sun sets so you can see the view and take pictures from the porch.
We ate at Boat Quay one evening and had the chili crab. It was a live crab they cooked up and was pretty good. There are so many restaurants along the river and they all seem to be around the same. It was nice to sit along the river, and we took a river cruise which was kind of fun. I thought Clark Quay was a little more touristy and new mall feeling. There is more shopping there than Boat Quay which has more restaurants.
I took a cooking class at Raffles which was really fun. It was great to have lunch and learn something new. A lot of the people in the class were locals and ex pats, and I got some good restaurant recommendations but not enough time to try them all. Thanying – Thai Food, Baba Inn and Lounge – Typical Malay food, Chinese Jade – Fullerton Hotel – Chinese food, Club Chinois – Chinese food.
Have a great trip!

The reviews on Tripadvisor seems decent.
It is one block from the Clark Quay MRT, and 2 blocks from Chinatown MRT. From maps and satellite pictures, it's very very close - like 100 yards. And there's footbridge that goes directly from the Furama to the building next to it, so the walk to the MRT should be extremely easy.

I stayed at the Furama last September. The lobby is a bit frumpy, but the rooms have recently been re-done. Nice, but certainly not memorable.
It is indeed a short walk to either the Clarke Quay or Chinatown MRT stations. The Chinatown station is a little easier to get to without getting wet, but both stations can be reached without being outdoors for long.
Both Chinatown and Clarke Quay are good places for restaurants, so you won't have to go far to find good eats either.
