try the kowloon hotel...it is owned by the peninsula and is right in back of it...rooms are very tiny, but a bit fun, internet is free in the room....you could not get a better location--5 minutes to star ferry...we stayed there for a few days in march and were very pleased...we moved from there to the renaissance in a suite, which was very nice, but the kowloon was more than adequate...dim sum in the basement is excellent---suggested to us by a restaurant owner here in massachusetts who was born in HK...enjoy

Hi, I just returned from Hong Kong and mainland China. I stayed at the Wesley Hotel in Hong Kong for $65 a night taxes and service charges included. It was clean, cheap and convenient located in Hong Kong island. Good luck.
Lisa,

Hk has quite a lot of promotion goign on...depending on which side of the island you wanna stay at. $100 is more than enough to get you a 4 star hotel. THe ones that you have mentioned are only 3 star hotels and the GT panda is absolutely out of the way. I live in HK and you can email me for details if you need help in locating more info. BTW, i am NOT the travel agent here

There are a lot of hotels under US $100 in Hong Kong. Check out this website: www.asia-hotels.com. Kowloon Hotel is nice. Rooms are very small but you'll have internet free in your room. If you're visiting for the first time, you may want to stay in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. Good luck and hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that I have stayed at the Metropole. Although their rates are inexpensive, the hotel is located far from the main street which is Nathan. The subway (MTR) runs along Nathan Road.

I would have to cast another vote for staying on the Kowloon side. I have been to HK many times and I have always preferred to stay there as opposed to the HK side. It's usually much less expensive and to me at least, a bit more fun!!!

I agree on Kowloon Hotel. Rooms are small but have an on board ship "builtin" feel. I work for a HK company and they put us up there. Great location for Kowloon, near rapid transit and close to Star Ferry! Also can go across street to Penninsula the roof top bar is one of the best views in town.

Try the Salisbury YMCA which is right next to the Peninsula. It has an upstairs dining room and downstairs cafeteria and pool. Rooms are good size.

The Regal Kaitak is the OLD airport hotel, now adjacent to rubble, a bus parking lot, and a weekend flea market. No MTR (subway) anywhere near, either...

The Regal Kaitak is close to nothing.
Try the Eaton Hotel in Kowloon. Rooms are decnt. Price should be around $70 USD. Three blocks from the MTR

One more thing. My friend just stayed at the Dorsett Garden. I almost chose it until she told me the rooms were so small that she kicked here sister's knees when they got up off their beds at the same time and that they kicked the TV from their bed while they slept. Really small rooms.
