Best Thailand beach town for family with 2 toddlers?
Would love your thoughts on the best Thailand beach town for family with 2 toddlers & why. Planning Feb/March trip. (Would adore oceanfront rentals avail.) Thanks!

I would go to Nang Thong Beach, Khao Lak. It is 1.5 hours from Phuket Airport.
It has a beautiful beach and a nice clean town to stroll at night or day.
You can do a day trip to Khao Sok and go on canoes in the jungle, the kids will love this.
Khao Lak is also the starting point for the Similan Island snorkeling trips, you can even sleep in tents on one of the islands for a night.
Nang Thong Beach Resort is perfect for kids as it is right on the beach and it has a kiddies pool and big pool.
The onsite restaurant is right on the beach and the food is good and cheap.

I think maybe the reason a couple of us said Hua Hin was because there is no flight needed (with todlers), just a van ride of 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Depends on which one is less hassle for you, I guess.
J W Khao Lak is a great place. Beautiful beach, great hotel with superb pool and facilities. With toddlers I'd be leery about getting one of the canal-side rooms as the pool is one step from the terrace! In other words... it's right there. A second floor room might be "safer" for your family.
There is a J W (also Phuket) near the airport which also has the time share 2 bedroom apartments. We always spend the new year in one of these apartments. Fabulous place! It's referred to as the Phuket Beach Club (attached to the J W Phuket). The beach is Mai Khao, which is not quite as nice as the Khao Lak beach IMO. But the facilities are beautiful!

There's a train schedule to Hua Hin from Bangkok (Hualamphong)...

We took the 0805 train. Takes only 3 hours(ish, includes a meal, no traffic to worry about, great scenery along the way. A great Thai experience for children of all ages.

I thought about the train just as I opened this thread. I have never taken any of the trains in Thailand but would consider this one if traveling with toddlers, since they can be "active" to a small degree.

The 0805 train that I mentioned has excellent virtues.
There's only two carriages, about 130 seats total. Reservation only, no standing, no crush, no problem!
We booked our seats in person at Hualamphong a couple of days in advance.
The journey isn't as much fun as a 3rd Class train, but it still beats a boring 3 hours in a tin-can van.
