So I'm tying the knot and my job is to plan our two week honeymoon, which I'm totally fine with however haven't a clue where to begin. We'd like to go to Thailand and/or Bali but only have two weeks to do it. I'm looking for some guidance as to where to go, how long to go for, where to stay, what to do, and any other suggestions for a clueless Honeymoon planner Thanks!

I've been to both. We spent our honeymoon in Thailand almost ten years ago. You'd need two weeks to see a lot in Thailand. We went to Chang Mai, Phuket, Phiphi island (our favorite place ever but not sure what it's like since tsunami), and ended in Bangkok at the Peninsula. Only thing we wished we'd included was a visit to Chang Rai to see the Karen tribe. I will never forget it. Most awesome honeymoon ever.

depends on what you wnat.. what kind of experience

we love both but feel thailand is more diverse.. for thailand 2 weeks is perfect... you need a couple of days to adjust to heat and humidity.. about 5 days in bkk, then maybe a week at a beach area like krabi, samui or hua hin..

we prefer the large hotel chains like sheratons, marriotts, etc..

my fav in bkk is marriott resort and spa... in krabi we like the sheraton and arari vogue.. in hua hin the hyatt or new intercontinental...

follow the beach time with a few more days in bkk, maybe staying along sukhumvit road area

Both are wonderful destinations fro a honeymoon. I would recommend that you choose one or the other, so you get a chance to slow down and really enjoy the place.

In the time you have you can choose three destinations and still have time to enjoy each place.

If you opt for Thailand, I'd choose Bangkok, the Golden Triangle area (take a look at the Anantara) and a beach area. As Bob notes above, which beach depends on which month you are going.

If you opt for Bali, I'd choose a place on the beach, a place inland near Ubud, and perhaps a short hop over to Java to see Borobudor and Prambanam.

You will spoiled for choice of accommodations in either location, as you can get luxe accommodations for reasonable prices.

When you're going is the big question. The seasons of Thailand and Bali are opposites - the cool season in Thailand is the rainy season in Bali. So, if you've got a June wedding, Bali is the 'best' choice, but Thailand is better from November to March.

Two good choices! Whether you choose one or split your time between the two depends on how much moving around you want to do. You could easily fill up two weeks in either.

I think it's important to note that Thailand is a country and Bali is a relatively small island in Indonesia. Within Thailand you could cover several locations -- beach, upcountry, big city -- but you'd need to fly between destinations.

On Bali you could cover both beach and inland without flying. Or you could fly or ferry to other parts of Indonesia like Lombok or Java.

Both Thailand and Bali have a wide range of luxury to moderate honeymoon appropriate accommodation. I'd give the beaches in Thailand the edge if you're looking for white sand/turquoise water. The advantage of Bali is once you're there, you're there.

That is sweet!! mm..honeymoon..if my self i wish to spend it in Maldives..but Bali is very nice also.. Both places had its own uniqueness.. if me ill choose bali.. but thailand itself also got lots of nice beaches and great resorts..

Both are great, but the time of year will pick for you. When is your honeymoon. If it's in late may through August, bali weather is better. If it's late November through February, Thailand weather is better. Spring and fall can be tricky, so if you give us the exact dates, we can direct you.

Forgot to mention it'll be the first two weeks of August. Also, my fiance LOVES scuba diving, so any diving suggestions would be helpful! Thanks again!
