I saw this article too and was impressed with what it said about Ha Giang and vicinity. The area appears absolutely fascinating and beautiful. Mr. Anh, whose tour company (Karst Plateau) was mentioned in the article, responded quickly to my email inquiry.
We're still looking at options for March after finding that Neopat's recommended tour isn't available for our dates.

Sapa has been on the tourist trail for more than a decade. According to this article, Ha Giang is much less developed but that will also mean lodgings that might be less comfortable than those in Sapa and elsewhere.... Also it might take longer to get from Sapa to Ha Giang than it might seem on the map..
I looked at those pics in the article and I wanted to go there this minute!
