Yes, Ha Giang is not a popular tourist destination, still keep its authentic life stye & landscape,..., worth exploring if you have time

I saw this article too and was impressed with what it said about Ha Giang and vicinity. The area appears absolutely fascinating and beautiful. Mr. Anh, whose tour company (Karst Plateau) was mentioned in the article, responded quickly to my email inquiry.
We're still looking at options for March after finding that Neopat's recommended tour isn't available for our dates.

We are tentatively planning on going to Sapa on our long SEA trip in Jan/Feb - looks like this area is next door, no? Is it different less travelled than Sapa?

Sapa has been on the tourist trail for more than a decade. According to this article, Ha Giang is much less developed but that will also mean lodgings that might be less comfortable than those in Sapa and elsewhere.... Also it might take longer to get from Sapa to Ha Giang than it might seem on the map..

I looked at those pics in the article and I wanted to go there this minute!
