Why rely on travel agents?

I decided to go through my travel agent to get my airline tickets so as to avoid any miscalculations. He is trying to have me reach my destination in the longest, worst, most expensive way. I can do better on the net; what's the deal?

Oh, please don't let's get the "travel agents are essential saints" vs. "travel agents are unnecessary vampires" brawl started again!!!!!!

THIS IS A TROLL designed to get people all fired up about whether travel agents deserve to live or people who don't use them deserve to be sent to missed-connection hell. ENOUGH ALREADY!! We get it!!!!

I checked my parts and I am definitely not a troll, and don't tell me to go away. I know that it's the longest, worst, most expensive way because I did my homework....now leave me alone unless you can give me a good answer. Troll, my foot!

I totally agree, I would NEVER go through any storefront travel agency. All they want to do is sell you high-kickback cruises. ONLY deal with internet sites, it doesn't matter if they are run by an airline, a consolidator, or even a travel agency. Just as long as you work via your computer. The worst you can do is deal with people in your neighborhod. They are all crooks. Don't do it!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: Vic ([email protected])
Date: 07/24/2002, 07:19 pm
Message: Way to go, Peter!
I totally agree with your advice, NEVER go to any storefront travel agency. All I can say is your travel agent must be terrible!!! Why in the world would they route you to Timbuktu when you really want to go from point A to point B. My best guess is this agent wanted to mark up your ticket to make more $$. How sad. As if travel agents can afford to lose any more customers. Much like baseball players threatening to strike , to which I say ' go ahead . make my day'.

Do us a favor--show this moron travel agent your post !!!

I agree with Vic and Sister..so many uniformed, stupid people claiming to be "travel agents'. Don't get me wrong, there are some good ones left. Their numbers are dwindling. I say, yes, do your homework so you know you won't get ripped off. Regarding cruises--yeah--I hear that! You really have to be an informed consumer. I know I am.
