We fly out of London to Seattle this week on Icelandair. I just want to confirm that no free food is served in economy. That seems silly for a transatlantic flight, but if that's the case, fine. We just want to be prepared. Has anyone eaten the food? Worth it or should we buy food at the airport and bring it with us?
One more quick question -- we fly out of terminal one at Heathrow but the food we want is at terminal three, after security. Will we be able to access those restaurants? Or can we only make it through security in terminal one?
My husband and I aren't picky, but my 7 year old son is so we need to be prepared!

I would ask your second question about access between terminals in a separate posting with a specific title. I have not done exactly the combination of T1 and T3 but typically you move between terminals at LHR on a bus and you go through security to enter both, with all the restrictions like 311 liquids applying. I have only done it when I have had a connecting flight through 2 different terminals so I couldn't say whether security would allow you if your boarding pass isn't for a flight from that terminal.
Thanks laurie_ann -- it occurred to me to make a second post as well. I put it on the Europe board and it's been answered already. The answer I received was that you could only go through the security for the terminal on your boarding pass. Stuck at T1, I'm afraid! But we'll survive.
Now I just have to figure out the food in flight dilemma!

No, there is no rule that food must be served if a flight is over a certain number of hours, though some airlines do publish flight-time-based guidelines regarding which flights include food service.
As I posted in your other thread, if you are flying on IcelandAir, you will have approximately two hours in Reykjavik on the way to Seattle. The flight time to Reykjavik is usually about three hours. There are restaurants in the airport transit area. You could get food there for the remainder of your journey also.

Only if you have a valid ticket for a flight from T3. If not then you can't. You could buy a fully refundable ticket for a flight from T3, go through security, buy whatever you want then "decide" not to fly from T3 and then travel to T1, then at some point get a refund of your ticket
