enforcing the one carry on rule?

I am usually a proponent of only carrying on a small bag w/a book and my wallet, really just a larger purse.

BUT....i am flying alone w/a child, therefore i need to carry a diaper bag and then i have several bulky items that i can't check, but won't fit in a diaper bag. (namely my video camera and a nebulizer to give my daughter her respitory treatments)

if i don't have a purse, will they give me a hard time w/having a diaper bag and a carry-on? the non-diaper bag is a messenger style book bag, so it's by no means a suitcase or even an overnight size bag.

what do you all think?

Shouldn't think so...especially with some of the huge piles of stuff people get on with. We took carry on suit cases that were a little bigger than the 'allowed' size, but no one said anything. Why don't you cram it all into a little, 'regulation' size bag. Then they can't say a word.

I believe the rules state one "carry on" and one personal item, which can be a purse, daypack, camera bag, etc. So I can't imagine you will have a problem with a diaper bag and a book bag.

As of very recently, I have seen gate agents make passengers go back to the ticket counter to check luggage if they had too much or it was oversized.

First of all, I assume you bought a seat for your child -- and if so, he/she is entitled to carry-on bag(s), also. And I dare a gate attendant to make you check the diapers!
