Tour Companies: Jordan
I've seen some recommendations for Petra Moon Travel; but has anyone used Jordan Direct Tours? Both agencies came back to me with good prices and programmes but I was wondering what kind of experiences other people have had. Our trip involves picking us up at Allenby, a private driver & guide at Petra and return to Queen Alia International.
Any comments would be great!

Hi,
I travelled to Jordan in Nov 2004. I used the local agent Petra Tours and found them to be very satisfactory!
I travelled alone, had my own car and driver who doubled up as my guide and travelled from Amman all the way to Aqaba in 8 days, taking in all the sights in between.

We used the Royal Jordanian Airlines own Tour Department. We were flying to Cairo on RJA, so did a stopover in Amman, staying at the Queen Alia airport hotel on arrival.
Next day with a private driver in an air conditioned Mercedes, drove to Petra. There we had private guide for touring Petra; lunch then return to Amman. Next day, again with a private guide/driver in an a/c BMW (this time) visited Jerash, Amman, an had a great lunch... later in the day flying to Cairo.
Since we were returing from Cairo w/overnight in AMM before a very early flight home, also included was another night at the Queen Alia hotel - all for $240/person which included three breakfasts while at the hotel. The hotel is more a transit hotel for passengers continuing on to other Royal Jordanian destinations... wasn't all that special, but was clean and with plenty of hot water.
You may want to contact RJA and see what they have to offer.

Thanks for the help! I have contacted both Petra Tours and RJA and are waiting for them to come back to me.
This is my first time out of South Africa so I want to make sure I deal with reputable people.

Thank you very much for this! We've booked through Shuayb at Petra Moon but we were a little concerned since he didn't want any payment up front, even for our return flights from Amman to Tel Aviv (we are getting into Jordan via Eilat). So you've definitely put my mind at rest!
