Recommendations for Egypt and Jordan logistics/guides arrangements

Hi All,

I'm planning a trip for myself and 3 others to Egypt and Jordan late September through October. Originally I was working with [email protected] who was recommended on this forum. Initially he was very responsive to planning but has dropped off the radar and I haven't heard from him in over a week.

I have a decent itinerary and I've gone ahead and booked all of our hotels myself and now am faced with trying to plan for transportation, activities and finding guides.

Can anyone recommend someone who can work with me to fill in the rest of our trip?

It seems that a lot of the tour agents want to control everything including hotel booking.

Thanks,

Stefan

Hi - you might have read our trip report/blog for the trip that we did with Ahmed in January 2008.

It was our experience that his hotel prices were better than what we could book online....also you might want to try texting him or phoning his mobile as I found emails weren't always a reliable form of communication - either way.

Thanks Elizabeth. Per your recommendation I tried both texting and phoning. Unfortunately no dice.

We were in Egypt (Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria and Taba) for 26 days starting on the 4th June finishing on the 30th June. All our hotel needs were satisfied using expedia.com. No complaints and no regrets.

We booked through Ahmed and he was very responsive. I hope all is well with him and his family.
We went from Dahab to Petra via the ferry...and then after an over night in Petra drove to Amman. We stopped at the Dead sea on the way to Petra, which I highly recommend and also did Wadi Musa. Wadi Musa was okay....but the food at the camp (where the cook the lamb underground) was really good. I would not suggest more than a day in Amman. Ahmed has outsourced the Jordan part of the trip to another agency. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name.

The tour operators most often do get better prices than when travelers go direct. Maybe because you booked all the hotels yourself, is why you haven't heard from Ahmed, assuming you're also arranging everything else.

And, you can certainly arrange for transportation thru your hotel from/to airports, also for sightseeing in/around Cairo.

Hi Stefan

Try www.egypt-quality-tours.com, they can tailor your trip to suit your needs and your budget. Their prices are actually cheaper than I was charged by a major tour operator when I travelled a few years ago

Good Luck and hope you enjoy Egypt, it is an amazing country.
