Camping in Namibia and Botswana in july

I have a few questions(actually i have a lot, just see my other post )

We are a hopefully doing a camping trip with 2 kids aged 7 and 2 in july 2010, but how cold will it be at night? Will it be to cold or what?

I am using Cardboard Box or Chameleon Safaris for our itinerary and car hire, And comments on them? So far they both have been professionel and quick to respond.

Sorry, I don't know. Here's a monthly weather chart -

But you have been wilderness camping with the kids before, yes?

I've seen frost in September.

It's a big country and conditions vary, especially with height.

It will be very different at 5000 feet compared to sea level.

I have heard nothing but good things about those companies.

I think your children will have to enjoy long days in the car. I'm not sure how a 2yo will get much out of the trip. If it was me, I'd wait until they were old enough to appreciate the effort and expense you are going to.

The key is layered clothes. You can add a remove as the temperatures change throughout the day.

You can expect pleasant weather during the day inland, averaging mid 20 degrees, towards the coastal regions like Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Luderitz it can be cold during the day.

The evenings the temperature can drop quite dramatically so for a camping trip you definitely need to make sure you have good sleeping bags. We actually also take along a couple of hot water bottles which can take the edge off the chilliness!

I have woken in the Caprivi in the morning in winter to find the kettle frozen solid. Having said that as soon as the sun comes up the temperatures start to rise again so as luangwablondes says it is best to layer up your clothes so that you can be comfortable all the time.

Sorry just read the rest of your post. You can't go wrong with either Cardboard Box or Chameleon, both are well established and well run so are a good choice.
