Big Cat Week/Diary 2007
For those who are interested in seeing this year's BCD it has been posted on You Tube. Each day is broken down into 3 parts and the quality is good. I know not every one likes this series and its portrayal of its animal and presenter stars; it is also bittersweet to see Honey and her cubs but I still enjoy the footage and the views of the Mara.
Past episodes from 2006 are also available for those who have not seen that year's episodes.
Hope you enjoy,
Eric

Thanks, I was so cross because I've been waiting for this series of BC to air for ages... I'm not entirely sure why they didn't air it months ago!
But I assumed they would do as they have for last few years and put trailers on to let viewers know that it was coming.
Instead, I happened to flick through the TV planner and spotted the 3rd one! They'd started airing them on 31 December! I recorded the last 3 which I have on my digital box waiting to watch but want to watch the first two episodes first.
I thought the BBC did some kind of online thing where you could access recently aired programmes but I can't find it so thanks for letting us know about YouTube.

Thanks Eyelaser. I never watch television, but now I’ve seen episode 1 part A, B and C. I searched for “Big Cat Week 2007” which must have been shot in September 2006 as Honey is there with her cubs.

I wonder if it may have had to do with Honey's death and how presenting the show close to her unfortunate demise would be perceived by those who know. It may have even been a concious decision by the Big Cat production team who must have been pretty upset by what transpired.

Eric

I thought there was some excellent footage - cheetah cubs 15 foot up trees, a serval, the lioness attacking the male lion. I'm not sure why BCD is so unpopuar on the forum - it's a far better production that the over-dramatised, spliced-together footage masquerading as a story that comes out of South Africa.
Kavey,
While your there make sure you pick up the Natural World episode from last Friday...the one about filming snow leopards in Pakistan.
Eric,
It may also have something to do with the fact there wasn't a BCD commissioned for 2007.
Cheers,
Gary.

Eric,
They didn't film in the Mara in 2007 as far as I am aware.
I'm not sure if anymore BCD are planned to be fair but you can check out Simon King's website nearer September to see. The forum on his site has some interesting updates on previous 'stars' - i.e. Cheza and Sala are still alive and together and Notch has been ousted by three new males since this last series was filmed.

BCD didn't film in the Mara in September 2007. They were in Tanzania - don't know where.
The Narok Council, on that side of the Mara where the filming has taken place in the past, upped the cost of the film crew filming from $300 a day to $3000. That is what I was told by my friends that work at Kichwa Tembo.
I for one will miss seeing the Mara BCD.

hi, this is really sad 3000k is a lot of money.... I believe big cat diary was promoting tourism in the mara and providing such valuable insights into the life of all the big cats... they were really good, I hope the council reconsiders the decision in future, Sonali
