Has anyone been to this camp lately? Apparently it was recently upgraded and looks GORGEOUS...definitley taking inspiration from the South African lodges.
Guiding looks to be of a very high standard as well.

Yep, it has beautifully appointed rooms, great views and most importantly fantastic guiding for small groups with each guide.

They have deliberately hiked the prices this year to try and cut down the occupancy a bit as the staff all felt burned out by the end of the summer (European & US summer) season last year.

With a refurbished Selous Safari Camp (split in two to create two more intimate camps), Sand Rivers and Beho Beho, the Selous Reserve has three magnificent camps to choose from each with a choice of game viewing activities, good wildlife and few other people.

You seem familiar with all of the Selous options....do you think Beho Beho is worth the premium over Selous Safari Camp, which was also recently refurbished....Which is your favorite camp?

Can anyone compare the distance to the river from the tents/cottages at Sand Rivers vs Selous Safari Camp? What was very appealing to me about Sand Rivers is that the cottages appear to be perched directly over the river (or at least when looking at their website it seems that way). Do you get good river views from the tent verandahs at Selous Safari Camp? Does Selous Safari Camp have a fly camp option?

Just daydreaming right now. I'd love to visit Uganda/northern Kenya/southern Tanzania. Maybe I should wait and save up enough so I can do it all in one trip. My problem is I'm very impatient and so into instant gratification that I don't know if I can wait that long!

My safari plans are not until May/June '07...to celebrate a "round number" birthday. I was originally thinking of Zambia and SA, but my husband is really drawn to Zanzibar for some beach time...so we are now planning to do Serengeti, Selous and then a week at the beach/sailing. What are your plans?

Selous Safari Camp has a fly camp option. They bring you to the other side of the lake and you go all around the lake, stay one night in the bush and then return next morning to the camp. When I was there in September 2005, the fly camp of Beho Beho was built in the dry river bed of the Beho Beho river and it was 100 meter away from a wild dog den. But both are excellent.

I don't have any real plans at the moment. I went to Kenya in Jan and Kenya/northern Tanzania in Nov of last year. I was thinking of Uganda in late 2006, but I may postpone until 2007 in which case I was thinking about combining Uganda with some place else I haven't visited in East Africa.

I've read about a road recently being constructed in the Selous which runs quite close to SSC and Beho Beho. It's suppsed to be rather busy, which I imagine could really detract from the feeling of being in the bush. Is this true? How bad is the noise?

Still curious if anyone is familiar with Beho Beho. Is it significantly better than Selous Safari Camp( $200pp more per night?)
