Favourite camps

If you could go anywhere on safari (any country, any camp, any time of year, and any price) where would you go, and why?

(I've got the bug, and I'm thinking about starting to plan the next trip....)

Rockabelle,

Easy for me to answer this! It's Kwando's Lebala camp in Botswana.

Why....
Awesome game viewing with something going on all the time....

Great people at camp- Management, staff, superb guiding

Great camp setting- open plains, lantern setting in the evenings....

You are a bad infulence on my sanity, as i am 12-13 months away from my next Lebala booking....

Rgds,
Hari

My favorites were Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo (Maasai Mara, Kenya) and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge (Tanzania). Both truly special places. I went with Micato and they were truly OUTSTANDING.

This is like being asked 'what's your favourite film or book'. I need to break it down into catergories/ genres:

I would go to Mowani Mountain Camp/ Lodge in Damaraland, Namibia (stunning design of lodge); Ugab campsite in Namibia (wilderness and desert ellies and save the rhino), anywhere in Sossusvlei, Namibia (desert dunes); Ihaha campsite in Botswana (chobe river wilderness); Nxai south campsite in Botswana (out of this world kalahari africa landscape) and as much time as possible in the Okavango Delta in Botswana - personally I found Moremi and North Camp near North Gate and Xakanaxa Camp and the whole Xakanaxa lagoon utterly stunning (water world) - they all fall into the "magical place unlike anywhere else on earth" category.
best wishes

I know it's a very vague and open ended question! It's just that I want to start thinking about planning my next safari, and this time round, I'd like to know more about where I pick before I do (we got swept into the last one with only a couple of days thought, and long before I'd found this website. We had a fantastic time though).

The reason it's vague, is that I can't even decide whether to go to E Africa, or Southern Africa, or what time of year (I'm not bound by school holidays, or busy periods at work, so I can literally go anytime). All I do know, is that I don't want to go somewhere where there are 10 cars round each animal (I find it distressing, even if the animals potentially don't).
And sadly, this time round, I'm going to have to pay for myself, so the budget's probably going to have to drop somewhat from the $1000 a night of Vumbura.
