A basic hotel in a great location, Hotel Punto Mx provides more value than style. With easy access to public transportation, the hotel serves as a good home base for exploring the city.

The lobby full of people shouting into cell phones is a giveaway that this is the city's best business hotel. It's on a hill high above Parque Los Tecajetes, so there's a nice view, but you'll need to take taxis back and forth into town.

Although the rooms are all furnished similarly, they are large and have fully equipped kitchens, which explains why many families and guests planning longer visits choose to stay here. There's a decent on-site restaurant and bar, plus parking (somewhat rare in Condesa) for an extra charge.

Set amid the gardens and weekend homes just south of Cuernavaca in exclusive Lomas de Jiutepec, this sustainably designed member of Fiesta Americana's luxury boutique Curamoria brand offers an array of eco-minded amenities to ensure a relaxing stay, including bike rentals, a good restaurant and bar, a conventional pool as well as a unique “biopiscina” natural swimming pond, an aviary, and a butterfly enclosure. Rooms are a bit cookie-cutter in design, but they're modern and comfortable. Standard rates don't include the extensive breakfast buffet, but many kinds of packages are offered.

The city's first deluxe hotel is still one of its most elegant, with a beautiful marble lobby and contemporary rooms that are tastefully done in taupe color schemes set off by dark-wood furniture. Upper-crust Meridanos recommend Spasso Italian restaurant as a fine place to have a drink in the evening, and Sunday brunch at Peregrina Bistro is memorable.

Although it's stodgy on the outside, this luxury hotel lightens up once you pass through the front doors. The modern Ceiba Café serves a superb breakfast buffet; the more intimate Amate makes a great choice for quieter dinners. With marble floors and polished modern wood furnishings, the guest rooms are some of the city's most luxurious.
