The Best Hotel in Antwerp and the Northeast, Belgium

Background Illustration for Hotels

Antwerp's hotels with the most character are generally found in the Oude Stad and its adjacent neighborhoods. There are several intimate boutique hotels, but as these can fill up far in advance, be sure to make reservations as early as possible. Some hotels have set prices throughout the year but many offer weekend rates. All hotels include taxes (6%) in their room rates.

The city's tourism bureau, Toerisme Antwerpen, keeps track of the best hotel prices and can make reservations for you up to a week in advance. Email [email protected] for a reservation form.

Boulevard Leopold

$ | Belgelei 135, Antwerp, 2018, Belgium Fodor's Choice
Located deep in the Jewish quarter, not far from Stadspark, this grand 19th-century house has been run by the friendly Willems family as a boutique-style B&B since 2010. Beyond the marble entranceway, gorgeous antiques, bell jars, and even stuffed animal heads dot a spacious interior. It's like living in a vintage photo shoot, and often feels like the kind of place that has secret nooks aplenty. Opt for one of the three simply decorated rooms, or choose between a pair of apartments that take up a whole floor each and afford both privacy and a dash of luxury. Excellent service, big breakfasts, and a sense that there's nothing else quite like it in the city make this a place to cherish.

Pros

  • Stylish, vintage accommodation
  • Great breakfasts
  • Friendly owners

Cons

  • It's a bit of a walk to the center
  • Only five rooms, so it fills up fast
  • It's a B&B, but breakfast costs extra
