Wilson Promontory National Park
Wilson Promontory National Park
The southernmost point of mainland Australia, Wilsons Promontory (or simply, The Prom) is a peninsula pointing toward Tasmania, offering a slice of accessible wilderness best enjoyed on an overnight stay or longer. Home to wombats, kangaroos, and emus on land, and seals, dolphins, and whales in the waters surrounding the Prom, the landscape is of hidden beaches and bushwalking tracks for all levels of fitness, including wheelchair-accessible trails.
Entrance to the park is free for day visitors; if you are staying overnight, prebooking accommodation is essential, and overnight hikers need to obtain a permit from the Tidal River Visitors Centre before setting off.
