Around Pham Ngu Lao

Pham Ngu Lao used to be the shorthand reference to the backpacker area, which is between September 23 Park along Pham Ngu Lao Street and Bui Vien Street. The area is still thriving and popular with budget travelers of all ages, but many come here simply to experience the lively cultural mix of international travelers and locals going about their business. There are the requisite backpacker bars and eateries here, but also a growing number of upscale restaurants. Bui Vien Street is pedestrian-only on weekend evenings.
