ICEHOTEL's 2018 Art Suite designs include overnights in frozen space, fairy tales, and dreamscapes.
If you are the strange sort of creature who enjoys vacationing inside what might be considered a beautiful ice prison, then have we got the hotel for you. The ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden is made entirely of ice and snow, and each year, the elaborately themed suites are designed by artists from around the globe. Check out just a few of the planned suites:
CUMULUS by Annakatrin Kraus Hans Aescht:

HANG IN THERE by Marjolein Vonk and Maurizio Perron:

RADIANCE by Natsuki Saito and Shingo Saito:
MONSTERA by Nina Kauppi and Johan Kauppi:

GROUND RULES by Carl Wellander and Ulrika Tallving:

WANDERING CLOUD by Lisa Lindqvist:

“These artists have been selected from hundreds of applicants. Making their designs a reality creates a truly global masterpiece,” said Jonny Cooper, Arctic travel expert and founder of Off the Map Travel. “The team at the ICEHOTEL never fail to impress and seem to outdo themselves each year.”

The amount of snow used to create the hotel rooms is “enough to make 700 million snowballs and chandeliers are made of 1,000 hand-polished ice crystals.” At the end of the season, the rooms literally melt into the Torne River. This is like a hotel version of a mandala and it is freaking me out. Rooms are expected to be fully sculpted and open December 15.
