ziplining? anyone been?

Has anyone been ziplining? How was it?

Can you recommend a place or a tour that does it in either Maui or Oahu? (Thanks)

Type "zipline" in the search box at the top to find threads about it. I did it in Kauai and loved it.

amwosu, we are doing the Princeville Ranch Zipline in a couple weeks and I was wondering which one you did? What to wear and if you swam after was the water freezing? Thanks, Kim

ECO Adventures on Maui has one on the slopes of Haleakala in the eucalyptus tree section.

charlios, I'm of no help. Can't remember the name of the outfitter for the zipline in Kauai. I just know that it was on Bill Gates property and he lets the company use the land.

We wore jeans for the zipline. You definitely want to wear long pants as you are in a harness. We didn't swim afterwards so it sounds like a different group. Have fun!

Bill Gates...Steve Case...they both have too much money!

Weight limit on the Zip Tours.
Much like the Molokai Mule Ride, I failed the test. #39;(

what is the weight limit???

I plan to do a zipline shore excursion from my cruise on the pride of aloha, we intend on doing this in Kauai, the order form does not specify where in Kauai, it just says "Canopy". Can someone explain exactly what this entails?? Do you hike to the top, then zip down, or are u driven, is there a tour involved, where do u land at the bottom, is it land or water?? Thanks

Dear Brittney:

I haven't done ziplining in HI, but I just got back from Puerto Vallarta where we did a canopy tour. The weight limit was 250 lbs. We had to hike up a trail with stairs, plus take stairs up to the platforms on the trees. It was a bit strenuous and I wished I was in better shape, but we took our time. Some of the people on our tour were well over 65 and still did it. Try a search for ziplines or canopy tour in Hawaii for more info. We never got wet except for our own sweat!!

have fun,

MY

I can only speak for the Maui zip line on Haleakala that their weight limit was 280 lbs. The cables they use can hold an SUV but the weight limit they have is because there might be time where a guide will have to catch you on the ending ramp. My wife (who never rides roller coasters) wanted to do it so we both did it and had a lot of fun. Maui has 5 ziplines. The first 3 are not that long but the 4th one is 100 yards long and the 5th one is 722 feet long. You need to book in advance and be prepared to sign a bunch of insurance papers. Also on Maui people brought cameras and even took shots while in flight.

Brittany, I hope this helps.

www.ncl.com
Click on: Shore excursions
Click on: Hawaii

Find the cruise ship you will be on and the date of the start of the cruise. Click on the pdf symbol in that block.

This will allow you to download a pdf file with all the shore excursions available for those cruises in that block.

The excursions are listed by islands. Kauai is the last one.

For Kauai zipline tours there are three that show up in the file.

Kauai Dive In To Adventure

Kauai Canopy Zipline Adventure

Climbing Zipline & Eco Challenge Tour

All three give a brief desciption including weight limits. You mentioned "Canopy" so that is probably the one you reserved.

I am assuming that whichever one you have reserved, it includes transportation to & from.

There are phone numbers listed for each excursion that you can use for additional info.

Your cruise is coming up in a couple of months. I hope you have a great time.

Dusty, i downloaded that file. It is very brief. It does not state which company they use. We are going to call NCL directly for more info sometime next week. Thanks so much you have always been a big help.

1 month 4 weeks till we sail!!!
