Zion - Angel's Landing Trail Closed

Hi Fodorites,

Our local news announced that 2 of the popular trails on the west side of Zion Canyon are closed due to bridge repair work by the Park Service. As many of you know, there is a bridge that crosses the Virgin River to the West Rim Trail which continues on up to Angel's Landing. The trail is closed now through mid-October so they can do maintenance work.

Not to worry - there are many other incredible hikes in Zion with amazing views.

Enjoy!

A nice alternative is Observation Point. From there you can look DOWN on Angel's Landing and the rest of Zion Canyon.

Well Clark, the bridge work is only for 6 weeks. Subway just might be forever......

PS - I'm not sure which is worse Subway in Springdale, or the horrible concessionaires the gov has allowed to run lodging and food services inside the parks.

I actually think Subway outside the park is the lesser evil.

NPS site says intermittent closures Sept. 21-Oct. 15. We've been planning to do this hike mid-Sept.

Dayle....I have never really been disappointed at any National Park in a concessionaire. Isn't Zion Xanterra? We had a good stay and a couple of meals in the park there a couple of years ago.
