Your opinion on Broadway's Nine

I am staying in NYC from Dec. 28 to Jan.3 and already bought tickets for Nine. Please let me know your opinion. I tried The Producers but the price for the tickets available was too high.

Why didn't you ask BEFORE you bought the tickets? What if everyone says it's lousy? Then, what would you do other than regretting your decision for the next six weeks?
The show is entertaining--not the greatest, but certainly entertaining. The new cast (headed by John Stamos) was reviewed favorably.

Sorry to say I personally did not like it, but everyone else in the theatre did, and it's always sold out, so I must be in the minority. Depends on each person's taste. I'm sure you'll have a good time, and I think it will be better with Stamos, as part of our problem was that we couldn't understand a word that Antonio Banderas said.

I was looking through some old Playbills from performances that I have attended when I found a copy from the original production. I didn't remember having seen it, so that speaks volumes. My sister and friends saw it with Banderas and except for Chita Rivera' performance found it to be a forgettable play also.

It is a striking production. But I must admit it's sort of sad when what you remember most is the back wall "weeping" and flooding the stage. Jane Krakowski was amazing and gave a show stopping performance. Her former understudy is doing the role now, Janna Elfmin (is that the right name? didn't live up to the standard they set and she was canned). They say Ertha Kitt is amazing now, and is equally dazzling to Chita. All in all I loved the production. The play itself? Nothing special.

I agree...I took my wife and mother and we all enjoyed it. The music is very good...the girls can really sing! --Jay

I saw it with Banderas and Jane Krakowski and liked it MUCH more than I expected. I thought it was very well done.

Stamos is out. Not sure who is in it now. I enjoyed the show. Wasn't the best I have seen, but it wasn't a stinker either.

I saw the original production and also the traveling production and play the CD a great deal. So, as you can tell, I love the show. I think Eartha Kitt is a great touch.

John Stamos is back in the show. He was out for a few days earlier this week, fulfilling some West Coast commitments.
