Yosemite ... where to stay.

DH and I are thinking of visiting Yosemite around the end of April. We would like to stay in the park, but the Majestic hotel has no vacancies so can anyone recommend other options for hotels nearby?

Try Yosemite Valley Lodge (previous name - Yosemite Lodge at the Falls). If no availability, your next best option is Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal. Other than Curry Village (Half Dome Village), no other hotels are 'nearby'. Yosemite View is as close as you are going to get and it is a very short drive into the Valley. (there is another motel in El Portal but avoid that one)

Check out the cabins at Curry Village. Some have bathrooms. They are rustic but the location can't be beat if you can't get into Yosemite Lodge.

Nanabee, if we can't get inside the park, our favorite is the Blackberry Inn. The website is www.blackberry-inn.com. It is just 20 minute drive into the park and its a beautiful property! The rooms are very gracious, the food is wonderful and the hosts are extremely knowledgeable about the park itself, various hikes, etc. Check out the website... I'm happy to answer specific questions if you have them
