Yosemite in June

We want a quick get away to Yosemite. Any suggestions for nice and reasonable cost hotel. In Oakhust? or Mariposa? What web site do you suggest. We'll be driving from Whittier, So. Calif.

Oakhurst and Mariposa are so far from the Valley floor. Be adventurous and trythe Curry Village tent cabins right in the park. It's like camping out but only nicer. And cheap too. If you are going mid week you can usually find cabins available. June will be excellent because the waterfalls will still be full. Nothing like waking up early on a cool crisp morning with the sheer granite walls of Yosemite towering above you. Being in the Valley means you can enjoy the day the minute you get up and not have to drive over an hour just to get someplace. Enjoy.

Try the Wawoona (sp?) Hotel just inside Yosemite, 45 min. drive from the Valley. It's historic, quaint and charming, with nice grounds and lots of space (usually see deer walking the property) and there's a 9 hold golf course across the street and a stable for horseback riding just down the street. When you go into the Valley and want to take advantage of a really nice hotel, spend some time at the Awahnee (very pricey). At Wawoona you can get a room with a shared bath it's less $. Try www.Yosemite.com. There's a central number for valley reservations. The Curry Tent Cabins are VERY rustic, usually for college kid-types backpacking.

I haven't camped inside the NP and I imagine that it would be more fun than staying away and driving in but that's an option. Fresno isn't all that far from either Yose or even Seq NP. June will be extremely crowded, so be prepared for that. I have an online travelogue at http://www.indospectrum.com/travels/yosemite.html It has some photos of what you can expect to see.

Emms: Are you talking about June THIS year? If so, you have left it very late to find accomodations either in or outside the park. I would guess any good places we could recommend would be full by now. So just do a search for places and try to find ANYTHING. Even the Ahwahnee at over $400 per night is totally booked up every night in June.

Now, if you are talking about June NEXT year, then we can talk.

Try 209-252-4848. This weekend they still had tent campsites and room without a bathroom at the Wawona. Call tomorrow.

To check reservations in Yosemite Park, their on-line real time system at http://www.yosemitepark.com/html/accom_reservation.html works well. Keep checking. If something comes up, book immediately.
