Yikes! Car service into Brooklyn for wedding

I have just started shopping car services from Mid-Town into Brooklyn for a wedding weekend. This going to be my expense....I need to get 20 people from Radio City Area to Dumbo in Brooklyn for a Rehearsal dinner( just there) and the same 20 to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for the wedding the next morning. They are quoting me $600. 2-14 Passenger Vans at $150 each per trip. All these people have never been to NYC before and I would never ask them to take the subways. And my husband and I must go earlier as we are the parents of the groom. Anyway the subways into Brooklyn on the weekend are slow. Does anyone have an alternative....or a reasonable car service. I have called Legend and Gotham. Help,Please!

I was going to sugggest Tel-Aviv but I see they are Manhattan only. You might try Jerusalem car service:

Perhaps they will give you a package rate for what you need. Good luck!

That seems really high to me. How about a car service? Carmel? 777?

It's not the most elegant solution, but can people take cabs? It's such a quick ride to DUMBO from Manhattan. It will certainly be much cheaper, at least for the rehearsal dinner.

Is it too late to book them into the Hilton in Brooklyn. Seems to be a much easier location.

If that's not possible, then cabs could be cheaper. 20 is A LOT of people.

That's 5-6 cabs each way, mid-town to Brooklyn. I don't think it would be much cheaper - and how can you hail 6 cabs at a time?

I don't think anyone was suggesting that they hale six cabs simultaneously. A cab from Radio City to Dumbo would be around $12 with minimal traffic. 5 cabs x $12 = $60...much cheaper than the passenger van scenario.

Well- I'm not sure that $12 will cover the ride plus tip. Are you saying they're asking $600 one-way - or is it $600 total to take people to and fro the dinner and to and fro the wedding? That would be $150 each way. Or are you not worrying about getting them back to the city?

But even if the cab with tip is $20 - that's $100 each way - $400 total - still considerably less.

So I would either shop further - or just go with cabs (you just need to be sure that you'll be able to get cabs back to Manhattan easily at both spots).

Where are you getting $12 from?

I use cabs all over the city. $12, especially now with the $1 "supplement"
barely gets you a couple of miles in traffic.

Are you looking at 2 round trips, for the rehearsal dinner & the wedding? $75 per van per trip?

You might want to ask this on www.theknot.com They have a local NYC chat forum. The girls there can probably list a million car services.

Good luck!
