Yet another trip to DC Coming!!!

Just found out that a college friend of mine that has lived in Germany for the past 10 years (haven't seen him) is going to be in DC for work in August so a few of us are going to head down there for 3 days.

They have left it up for me to do all the planning!!! Thankfully, otherwise there would be no plan (fine in some regards but having been there so many times in the past 3 years, I need to do research on other sites).

Once again, we are going to stay at the Americana to meet budgets of some people. Coming for 3 nights this time (2 just wasnt long enough in February).

We will be taking Amtrak from Hartford round-trip so that is not an issue.

We will probably cover some of the Monuments again but not a priority. Biggest site I want to see is the Video Game Exhibit at the American Art Museum. Also, we will be going to a Dodgers @ Nationals game and a Brewers @ Nationals game. Did I mention I am in charge of planning? probably will go see the Capitol Steps as well. Not really sure what else to fill in other than just mix & match Smithsonians that we havent been to, etc but am going to wait and see what exhibits, etc we feel like. I will go back to Arlington Cemetery this trip too as I felt we rushed it too much last year.

Any other suggestions are more than welcome. Just posted because I am glad I am coming back. This may turn into just a drinking tour.

If you run out of things to do/see in the DC area, catch a game at Camden Yards and see the Inner Harbor and the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

The Nats and the Washington Post ran a lot of specials last year with discount tickets, cheap hot dogs, etc. so you might want to keep an eye out for that. In fact, the last weekend of home games had tickets for $2.00 (and they weren't bad tickets either). The Brewers will be playing the last weekend of home games, so you might luck out this year too.

Tom, I have covered Baltimore. Been to 8 games at Camden so that would be a great option, except the O's are in Boston...

Longhorn, thaks for the heads-up on the specials

How is the National Geographic Museum? Obviously I know it depends on what is being shown at that time. Worth a few hours?
